Why so slow!

I was fortunate enough to know Debbie in sixth form at school and we kept in touch during university (first time round for her!). Debbie, Mark (a friend of mine from university) and I shared a house in Wandsworth immediately after graduating.

Relatively early one Saturday morning Mark and I were chopping up carrots for a dinner party we were having later that day. Because Debbie was still in bed enjoying a Saturday morning lie-in, we decided to try and chop the carrots quietly - have you ever tried to do that. About every ten chops we would press too hard, go all the way through the carrot and make a loud noise. After about an hour of doing this (I have no memory of why we needed so many carrots), Debbie came downstairs and "politely enquired" why we were chopping carrots so slowly as it was driving her mad.

I will always remember her sense of fun and infectious laughter. Thank you for the fun we shared.
